"Pose is set in the world of 1987 and "looks at the juxtaposition
of several segments of life and society in New York: the rise of
the luxury universe, the downtown social and literary scene and
the ball culture world."
Durch den Trailer angefixt worden, der aber mit aktueller Mukke bestückt
ist. Hier gibt es natürlich sehr geile 80er Musik zu hören. Ist nicht
jedermanns Thema, ich hab damit kein Problem, zumal es einige wirklich
sehr tolle Charaktere gibt. Etwas Sorgen macht mir die Entwicklung der
Story, die heute mit vielen, vielen einzelnen Strängen eröffnet wurde.
Ich habe etwas bedenken, dass das zu sehr in Trans/Gay/Aids/Wife-Drama
münden wird. Aber das muss man sehen. Mache mir bei Ryan Murpy zumindest
in der ersten Staffel keine Sorgen. Gerade als man so den Lack of Diversty
ansprechen will, kommen die ersten Weißen. Leider etwas zu Plump als de
facto gutsituierte und verheiratete Wallstreet-Bande. Das ist auch ein
ziemlich Bruch in der Darstellung. Hat ein ganz wenig was von Glow, nur
die Mädels und die Adamsäpfel sind größer. War schön, bin gespannt.
"Pose is easily the warmest of all of Murphy’s series, but it’s not without
conflict. Aside from Elektra and Blanca’s sporadically friendly competition,
this period drama addresses transphobia, homophobia, the growing AIDS crisis
and the callous indifference of the Reagan administration toward the disease
economic inequality, as well as the disproportionately high rate of
homelessness among trans and gay youth. Impressively, the sprawling scope
of the show is rarely an issue, but it does struggle to establish a sense
of place."
