Im Somethingawfulforum gibt es mittlerweile ein Unterforum namens "Derek Smart's House of Star Citizen Obsessive Insanity" in dem den Entwicklern genauer auf die Finger geschaut wird. Die dortige Meinung ist, dass das Spiel nie erscheinen wird, oder ggf. - vielleicht um einen lawsuit zu vermeiden - bestenfalls als Schatten seiner Ankündigungen das Licht der Welt erblickt. Es wird jetzt fünf Jahre daran gewerkelt und der Releasetermin ist seit zwei Jahren überschritten. Möglicherweise ist es ein erfolgreicher Trick, um Spieler um ihr Kickstartergeld zu bringen. Vielleicht sieht man das ganze auch bei Somethingawful ein wenig zu schwarz (unwahrscheinlich). Nur so als heads up. "The game you can actually play right now is a janky mess with slide-show FPS and maybe an hours worth of content. It is being iterated on at such a slow place that were the rate of development to continue at the current speed, the game would be completed sometime in 2025, maybe. It's designed solely to create the illusion of progress and continue to, you guessed it, fleece gullible nerds. The entire project is in development hell. The engine is fundamentally not suited for the game they are trying to make, and it is woefully mismanaged by someone who seems pathologically incapable of setting consistent, realistic goals. More recently the disquiet has led to people doing things like contacting the attorney general and BBB in order to get their money out of the firepit.
